PM Chairs Meeting To Review Recent Gas Crisis

Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered inquiries against managing directors of Sui Northern and Southern Gas Companies for shortage of gas.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review the situation in the backdrop of recent gas crisis, the Prime Minister directed to submit a report within 72 hours.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan gave a detailed briefing on the situation.

The meeting was apprised that eight cargos of R.L.N.G. Will timely arrive in Pakistan and efforts have been stepped up to increase local production of gas.

The minister briefed that the production of south gas fields is 80 M.M.C.F.D. Less than the previous year.

He said, the consumers in Nawab Shah and Karachi were effected due to gas shortage. The minister emphasized that the domestic consumers are being supplied gas on priority basis.

The Prime Minister directed to evolve a comprehensive strategy to fill gap between demand and supply.

Earlier, the Prime Minister accorded approval to the appointment of a four-member prime minister's inspection commission.

Establishment division issued a notification to this effect.

The commission members include Syed Abu Ahmed Akif, Dr. Siraj Mustafa Jokhio, Waqar Ahmed and Mumtaz Ahmed Kamal.
