Chinese Delegation Meets Maritime Affairs Minister, Explores Investment in Desalination and Infrastructure Projects

ISLAMABAD: A six-member delegation from a Chinese construction company met with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry in Islamabad. The meeting focused on mutual cooperation in projects related to highway construction and water supply.

Special discussions were held on the installation of desalination plants at Port Qasim to make seawater usable. The federal minister stated that the purpose of this project is not only to address the issue of water scarcity but also to promote environmental protection.

The Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in investing in the project and conveyed a desire to expand cooperation in Pakistan’s maritime sector.

Federal Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the partnership with China and said that Pakistan’s maritime sector offers vast investment opportunities, especially in logistics, tourism, and the blue economy, where foreign investors are warmly welcomed.

He added that Pakistan values its brotherly relations with China and is committed to further enhancing this cooperation.
