ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani Tuesday held a meeting with a high-level delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The delegation was led by IFC's Global Director, Ms. Linda Rudo Munyengeterwa. Senior officials from the Ministry of Railways also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the development and improvement of various sectors within Pakistan Railways. Minister Kayani stated that with IFC's support, public-private partnerships in the railway sector will be promoted to bring improvements in line with modern standards.

He further mentioned that close collaboration is underway with IFC and other international organizations to enhance freight train operations. Calling the improvement of rail infrastructure essential, he said that comprehensive measures are being taken in this regard.

Bilal Azhar Kayani added that the proposals presented by IFC to modernize the railway system are being thoroughly reviewed. During the meeting, the IFC delegation also gave a detailed presentation on the improvement of railway infrastructure and solutions to related challenges.
