Heatwave Grips Various Parts Of Country

Heatwave conditions have gripped most parts of the country and are expected to intensify into a severe heatwave in the Southern Half.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain 6 to 8 degrees celsius above normal in the Southern Half of the country and 4 to 6 degrees celsius above normal in Central And Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan until April 18th.

Nights are also expected to be warmer during this period, which may lead to dust storms or windstorms due to excessive heating.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised the public, especially children, women, and senior citizens, to take necessary precautions during the heatwave. They recommend avoiding direct sunlight, staying hydrated, and adjusting outdoor activities accordingly. Farmers are also urged to take care of their livestock.

Rising temperatures in northern areas may accelerate the snowmelt rate, and wind or dust storms could damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels in vulnerable locations.
