Pakistani American Chamber of Commerce Established to Boost Pakistan-US Economic Relations

CHICAGO: Pakistani expatriates in the United States have established the Pakistani American Chamber of Commerce with the aim of promoting economic and investment activities between Pakistan and the United States, as well as highlighting and addressing business-related challenges faced by the community.

A formal launch ceremony was held in Chicago where prominent businessman Naveed Anwar Chaudhry was appointed as the President of the Chamber, and Tariq Butt was named Chairman. Both were entrusted with leadership responsibilities by the attendees.

The event was attended by Pakistan’s Consul General Tariq Karim and notable American figures including Anna Valencia, Melissa Irwin, Fritz Kaegi, and Danny Davis, along with a large number of prominent Pakistani Americans such as Rana Javed, Rana Zahid, Rizwan Khan, Chaudhry Munir, Dr. Muhammad Anwar, Asif Malik, and Dr. Asif.

Speaking at the occasion, Naveed Anwar Chaudhry expressed his delight over the successful establishment of the Chamber and credited Tariq Butt, the Consul General, community leaders, and businesspersons for their support.

He said that although the attendees come from various industries, there had previously been no formal platform to present their ideas and proposals.

He emphasized the need to enhance economic activities between the two countries and expressed hope that the Chamber would play an active role in achieving this.

He pointed out the vast opportunities available for boosting trade and investment and noted that this forum would help identify and resolve issues related to imports and exports, while also strengthening communication with the governments of both countries.

Participants at the event welcomed the formation of the Chamber, expressing hope that it would not only foster bilateral cooperation in the economic sector but also help resolve challenges faced by business communities in both countries.

They pointed out that uncertainties surrounding tariffs and regulations often hinder trade, even in cases where the issues are relatively minor.

Naveed Anwar further stated that he is optimistic that this Chamber of Commerce will be instrumental in resolving such matters and advancing economic engagement between Pakistan and the United States.
