Quetta Blast: 20 Martyred, 35 Injured In Explosion At Quetta Railway Station
As many as 20 people were martyred and 35 injured in an explosion at Quetta Railway Station this morning.
Balochistan Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind, while talking to media in Quetta, said the blast was apparently a suicide attack, however, further investigation would confirm the cause of the explosion.
He said 20 people have been martyred, adding that a general threat existed but there was no specific threat.
Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer Amir Ali Baloch confirmed the figure, saying that according to initial information, the death toll was 20 while 35 people have been injured in the blast.
He said that medical and rescue teams have reached Quetta Railway Station.
He further said that an Information Desk has been established at the railway station and details can be obtained from railway inquiry number 117.
The blast occurred when passengers were present on the platform just as Jaffar Express was preparing to depart for Peshawar.
A heavy contingent of police and fc personnel reached the scene of the blast while emergency was declared in all hospitals in Quetta.
Provincial Health Minister Bakht Mohammad Kakar has reached Civil Hospital’s Trauma Centre and is supervising treatment activities being provided to the injured.
The Minister has directed MD Trauma Centre Arbab Kamran and MS Civil Hospital Dr Mir Noorullah Musakhail to ensure provision of the best health facilities to the injured.
Bakht Mohammad Kakar said operation theatres at the Trauma Centre and Civil Hospital Quetta are ready and additional doctors have reached the hospital to provide medical assistance to the injured people.
He further said unnecessary gathering at the Trauma Centre and Civil Hospital should be avoided.
