Pending Cases Backlog: SC Benches Formed To Expedite Disposal Of Cases
After Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa reached agreement with two senior most Judges of the Supreme Court, Benches have been constituted to hear cases in order to reduce backlog of cases.
Each bench has been given 15 cases to expedite the disposal of cases pending in the Apex Court.
Yesterday during the proceeding of petitions against Supreme Court Practice And Procedure Act 2023, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa expressed displeasure over extensive time given to high profile cases while common litigants suffer.
Although the hearing ended in adjournment, Chief Justice announced that he along with two senior most Judges of the Supreme Court will be constituting Benches through consultation.
5 Benches have been constituted with each Bench assigned particular set of cases.
Chief Justice Isa will be heading a three member bench which will hear cases related to property disputes and service matters.
Bench headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood will hear cases of bail and Justice Aijaz ul Ahsan will take up civil matters.
Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel will head Benches which will take up appeals in criminal cases.
