The European Commission has banned Tiktok from its employees' corporate phones citing cyber security concerns.

EU Industry Chief Thierry Breton said the measure aims to protect the commission against cyber security threats and actions which may be exploited for cyberattacks.

The Commission however declined to give further details on whether there have been any incidents involving Tiktok.

Tiktok said it was disappointed with the Commission decision, saying it was "misguided and based on fundamental misconceptions".
