Peru Demonstrations: Police Tear-gas Anti-government Protesters

Police used tear gas to disperse protesters trying to protest in lima downtown, as hundreds took to the streets over the ousting of former President Pedro Castillo.

Demonstrators in Lima threw objects at police, who responded by firing tear gas.

Protesters demanded the resignation of current President Dina Boluarte, closure of congress, changes to the constitution and Castillo's release.

Some 46 people have been killed in the weeks-long clashes and another nine in traffic accidents related to the barricades set up amid the protests.
