Kabul Blast : Damage & Debris After Car Bomb Kills Eight Civilians
Damaged buildings and vehicles were seen in the heavily fortified "green zone" of Afghanistan's Capital, Kabul after a car bomb hit the area on the previous night.
According to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson, eight civilians were killed and at least 20 others wounded in the blast.
He said that security forces' operations ended with the death of all attackers. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Acting Defence Minister Bismillah Mohammadi said his home was the target and that he and his immediate family were fine although some of his bodyguards had been injured.
The attack, in the heart of one of Kabul's most secure areas, came during an escalation in violence by the Taliban.
Attacks have risen sharply since President Joe Biden announced U.S. Troops would leave by September even as the Taliban intensified its attacks on major cities.
