Pakistan Inviting Afghan Groups For Talks : Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan is inviting Afghan Government, Taliban and Leaders of the former Northern Alliance in order to find a negotiated settlement of the Afghan problem.

Talking to Journalists in Multan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said force is not the solution to the Afghan conflict and Pakistan does not want a repeat of Civil war in that country.

The Foreign Minister said he has invited his Afghan Counterpart Muhammad Hanif Atmar to visit Pakistan.

He said Pakistan is holding consultations with other regional countries. Qureshi said for this purpose he will leave for Tajikistan early tomorrow and will also visit Uzbekistan.

Qureshi said in Uzbekistan he will meet U.S. Special representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said he had a fruitful discussion with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the Afghan issue. He said the U.S. top diplomat regards Pakistan as very helpful in the solution to Afghan issue.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan's civil and Military leadership, in a recent meeting reviewed the situation in Afghanistan. He said the meeting was aimed at devising a unified stand of Pakistan on Afghan issue.
