U.S. Troops Withdrawal Plan : Trump May Cut Half Of Troops In Afghanistan

The U.S. Military expects president Donald Trump to order a further withdrawal of Troops from Afghanistan and Iraq.

According to Defense Officials quoted by U.S. Media those in Afghanistan will be cut from about 5,000 down to 2,500 by Mid-January. In Iraq they will be reduced from 3,000 to 2,500.

President Trump has previously said he wants "all" troops home by Christmas.

The U.S. Media reports said the withdrawal should be finished by 15 January just days before Joe Biden's inauguration as President.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell warned President Donald Trump Monday against accelerating troop reductions, saying it would give extremists a "big propaganda victory."

He added that the move would leave room for the Taliban to take control of Afghanistan and the Islamic State Group and Al-Qaeda to rebuild.
