PM Addresses Financing For Development Summit : G-20 Should Extend Debt Suspension Initiative For One Year
Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged G-20 countries and Multilateral Institutions to for extension of debt suspension initiative for at least one more year.
Addressing the Financing for Development Summit on the sidelines of un General Assembly Session, the Prime Minister called upon developed Nations to set up a fund Worth 500 billion dollars for developing countries.
He said, the Covid-19 Pandemic has inflicted unparallel human sufferings and no one is safe until everyone is safe.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the poor countries have been hit the hardest by the financial crisis caused by pandemic.
He also reiterated his demand for global initiative of debt relief for the developing economies
This high-level event held virtually and was convened by the UN Secretary-General and the Prime Ministers of Canada and Jamaica.
The forum aimed to articulate a coordinated and comprehensive multilateral response to the urgent financing for development crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
