PM Addresses News Conference In Lahore
Prime Minister Imran Khan said, the recent Bureaucratic shuffle in Punjab has been made after rigorous deliberations of three weeks between him and Chief Minister Punjab and also with the retired Bureaucrats.
Addressing a News Conference in Lahore, Imran Khan said, the new Bureaucratic team in Punjab will improve governance and delivery of services to the masses.
Announcing the government of Punjab's comprehensive plan to Curb Smog and Air Pollution, the Prime Minister said, the government has identified sixty thousand Kanals Land in Lahore for forestation.
Imran Khan stated that Euro-4 clean oil will be imported to curtail pollution and euro-5 oil will be introduced by end of 2020. He said, the government will also incentivize the import of electric vehicles.
Prime Minister Imran said, tax will be abolished from import of scrubbers for steel furnaces and Zig-Zag Technology will be introduced for brick kilns.
He also announced to import machinery for farmers to prevent burning of crops.
Imran Khan revealed that 70 percent of tree cover in Lahore was removed in the past ten years that exacerbated the situation.
The Premier highlighted that the crop burning in India and emissions from Vehicles, brick-kilns and steel furnaces are major contributors to the Smog.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the government steps will yield significant results after next three years.
He said, the government will also establish 10 Smog monitoring centers in Lahore and 30 monitoring centers across Punjab.
