Voice Of Kashmiri People Heard At UN: Maleeha Lodhi

Pakistan's ambassador to the united nations maleeha lodhi has said that the people of jammu and kashmir may be locked up and their voices not heard in their own homes and their own land, but their voices are heard today at the meeting of the united nations security council.

The united nations security council held a consultative meeting to discuss the kashmir issue as pakistan urged the world body to implement its own resolutions on this 70-year-old dispute.

In the closed door meeting, briefings were given on the situation and consultations will take place to decide how to proceed further.

In a briefing following the conclusion of the meeting, lodhi said it is for the first time in over 50 years that the issue of the jammu and kashmir discussed exclusively in security council.

She said it is an important milestone for the people of kashmir as it negates indian propaganda claiming that kashmir is there internal issue and it is also evident from today's discussion that united nations security council's resolutions are alive even today and international community want to find a peaceful resolution to kashmir which is a internationally recognized dispute.

Maleeha Lodhi said India has tried all its best diplomatic efforts to stop today's meeting but badly failed.

Lodhi termed today's meeting of UNSC as Pakistan's first diplomatic step in response to India’s illegal annexation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan will further intensify its efforts till the justice is done to people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The ambassador said that the meeting had been called within 72 hours after foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had written a letter requesting the same.

The meeting had been called by china on Pakistan’s request to discuss the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir and that is why the Chinese ambassador briefs the media after meeting.

Maleeha Lodhi said that we are grateful to China in also joining us in calling this meeting.
