IHC Asks Law Ministry To Remove Judge Arshad Malik
The Islamabad High Court today wrote a letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice to remove NAB court judge Arshad Malik from his post following the appearance of a controversial video about him related to the Al Azizia case against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Acting Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq wrote letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice to de-notify the judge.
Judge Arshad Malik also clarified to the court in a letter that the video was edited to malign him.
In an affidavit submitted to the IHC, he denied the contents of the video and termed them as edited, fabricated and aimed to defame him.
The judge was at the centre of a recent controversy after PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz at a news conference showed video clips.
She claimed that the judge had met a PML-N ‘sympathizer’ to confess that he had been "pressurized and blackmailed" to convict her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in the Al-Azizia reference.
