Putin Orders Surprise Combat Readiness
Russian armed forces in the central military district were put on high alert after President Vladimir Putin, announced drills to test their combat readiness.
Iskander, S-300 and S-400 missile systems, BTR-82 Armoured personnel carriers were demonstrating their fighting capabilities and combat readiness.
Russian Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu said military exercises were intended to ensure military security in Central Asian region and to prevent terrorist threats.
About 150,000 troops and more than 20,000 weapons were involved in the surprise combat readiness inspection of the Russian Army.
Military exercises will continue until June 28.
