Medals A Target For Pakistani Shooters Heading To Rio
Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, a 29-year-old navy marine, and Minhal Sohail, a 21-year-old university student, are among the Pakistani squad that will participate in the Rio Olympics opening this week.
Bashir will participate in the 25-metre rapid fire pistol event for men.
Bashir came in eighth place in the Asian games in 2014. He won the individual silver media in safe games.
Bashir said that he had not qualified for the olympics but he has been allowed to compete on the basis of an mqs, a qualification score given by the olympics association to sportspeople who had qualified in other international events.
Minhal sohail said pakistan was being represented in the 10 metre air rifle event for women for the first time.
She said it is a great honor for her being a female who is going to represent pakistan at this level after qualifying.
