Cannes Film Festival

Chinese director Jia Zhangke walked the Cannes film festival red carpet for the premiere of his latest film 'Ash Is Purest White'.

Jia, who is no stranger to the Cannes scene, is the only Chinese contender this year with a film in the running for the festival's top price, the Palme D'or.

The mandarin-language film tells a story about violent love among mobsters over a period of nearly two decades.

Two of the cast members, Chinese actress Zhao Tao and actor Liao Fan, also strolled down the red carpet, and were joined by stars including American model Bella Hadid, British singer Cheryl Cole, and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing.
