Senate Session: Rs. 100 Billion Annually To Be Spent In FATA For Next 10 Years

Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt Gen (R) Abdul Qadir Baloch informed the Senate that 100 billion rupees would be spent per annum for next 10 years in federally administrated tribal areas to bring it in the mainstream.

Responding to various supplementary questions, the minister said it was a lengthy process and would take 10 years to bring FATA at par with other areas.

He said that an amount of 331.86 million rupees has been disbursed as compensation to the victims of terrorist incidents in the tribal areas.

He said compensation of 400,000 rupees each was being paid for totally destroyed houses while 160,000 Rupees each for partially damaged houses in FATA.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry assured the house during questions hour that the law will take its course in the case of former spokesperson of Tehrik-e-Taliban Ehsanullah Ehsan who had surrendered himself before an intelligence agency last year.

He said that the TTP spokesperson involved in several terrorist incidents will not be pardoned.
