Hindu Devotees Gather At Babri Mosque Site
As many as 151,000 lamps were lit in India's Northern Allahabad city as part of a 50-day-long ritual to pave way for the construction of a Hindu temple where the Babri mosque was destroyed by a mob in 1992.
The ritual is an initiative by Hindu seer swami Avaid Chaitanya, who believes it would help clear roadblocks in the way to construction of a temple of Hindu Lord Rama in Ayodhya.
Grand prayers were also organized on Monday which were attended by Hindu devotees in huge numbers.
Babri mosque stood at the site in Ayodhya before it was razed by Hindu zealots.
