ICC Rates Melbourne Pitch As Poor

The International Cricket Council rated the Melbourne test pitch ‘Poor’, following boxing day drawn ashes clash between hosts Australia and England.

The track drew criticism from both competing teams, after Australia scored 327 and 263 for 4 declared in their two innings, while England scored 491 in their only innings.

Match referee Ranjan Madugalle said in his report to the ICC that the bounce of the mcg pitch was medium, but slow in pace and got slower as the match progressed.

As per the match referee report nature of pitch did not change over the five days and their was no natural deterioration.

It is the first time an Australian international pitch has been rated poor.

Cricket Australia has been given 14 days to provide a response.
