Oil Extends Gains Above $44 On Output Freeze Hopes.

Oil traded above 44 dollars a barrel in Asia today, extending gains on hopes crude producers would agree to freeze output at a meeting next month, easing a stubborn global supply glut.

US benchmark West Texas intermediate for delivery in September was up 37 cents at 44.86 dollars a barrel and Brent crude for October gained 35 cents to 47.32 dollars.
