The primary objective of setting up television in a developing country such as Pakistan - was to feed its viewers with programmes on national development, education, and mass awareness, to inform them of happenings within and outside world, and to provide them healthy entertainment through drama, shows, music, children and sports. As anywhere else, television started modestly in Pakistan through Pakistan Television Corporation Limited in the year 1964.
To encourage its creative talent in different disciplines of performing art, PTV holds Annual PTV Awards. The 10th PTV Awards is being held at Lahore’s historic Shalimar Garden on the evening of Saturday, 17th March 2001.
